Sarah, originally from Athens, Ohio, earned her BFA in dance and minor in education from The Ohio State University. Her current aesthetic and interests in massage, yoga and dance lie in reinvesting attention to the practice of touch and movement as personal radical self-care. Allowing the body to be a means of education and discovering links between effort, emotion, touch and discovery. Sarah Mae is currently based in Boston, MA dancing for Annie Kloppenberg and choreographing her own work, both independently and collaboratively. Sarah Mae currently teaches at the Dance Place, as well as Mercersburg Academy summer youth dance camp. For her choreography she has received the Emerging Artists Award at Green Street Studios and been showcased for ArtBeat 2012, Multiple Shared Choreographers Concerts at the Dance Complex, Choreofest 2012-2014 and Third Life Studios. She was chosen as one of the 5 top performing artists in Boston for the RAW Artists showcase 2012 and has been invited to show work at Salem State University and Holy Cross College. She also is committed to facilitating and organizing fundraising performances and programs for modern and improvisational dance in the effort to enliven and strengthen the Boston dance community.
